Hwedza Composite Complex Opened
Vice-President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga on Sunday officially commissioned the completed Hwedza Government Composite office complex Phase 1, making a big milestone of projects that were completed by the Ministry of Local Government as part of the broader Government development trajectory.
The completion of the office block marks a major achievement for a project which has started in 2004 but suffered various setbacks.
But under the thrust of the Second Republic which aims at accelerating infrastructure development, construction resumed in 2021.
The three-storey building has 57 offices and will house various Government offices in the district.
Speaking at the event, VP Chiwenga said Government has now paced up the completion of the composite district offices on Filabusi, Lupane, Mutoko and Siakobvu.
All the buildings are being constructed by the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.

“Today’s ceremony marks yet another milestone achievement by the Second Republic, under the able and trusted leadership of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Cde Dr Dambudzo Mnangagwa,” said VP Chiwenga.
He said the Government will continue to honour its pledge to develop and demonstrate its commitment to the object of brining public services closer to the people.
“Due to the strategic nature of this project for the district, focus was put on Phase One which consists of Block B, whose commissioning we witnessed today. Phase 2 will comprise the constructions of Block A and other ancillary buildings and infrastructure.
VP Chiwenga said office construction programme will continue in-conjunction with other infrastructure development projects which have seen the Second Republic undertaking several high impact projects.
VP Chiwenga said the government is committed to ensuring people have access to services under one roof.
“We want our people to have services under one roof so that they won’t travel long distances,” said VP Chiwenga.

Minister of Local Government and Public Works Hon July Moyo who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Mr Zvinechimwe Churu said his Ministry will continue to ensure that civil servants get decent offices across the country.
He said the collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has resulted in speedy implementation of some of the high impact projects
The event was also attended by the Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr Sekai Nzenza, The Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities Hon Daniel Garwe and other senor Government officials.
