His Excellency, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> today officially opened Phase 1 of the Mbare Musika Traders market in Harare where urged local authorities and investors to replicate the concept of modernising and marketplaces across the country\u2019s ten provinces.<\/div>\n
He also unveiled a plaque for the ground-breaking ceremony for the Phase 2 of the Mbare Musika market and cut a ribbon to commission public works for Phase 2<\/div>\n
The President hailed the Private Public Partnership that saw the infrastructure being built in a record time<\/div>\n
The market was constructed by Masimba Holding after signing an Memorandum of Understanding with City of Harare and the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.<\/div>\n
President Mnangagwa urged those overseeing the operation of the market not to impose step rentals that are beyond the reach of traders.<\/div>\n
The President said Government was ready to support SME as they were key in driving the economy.<\/div>\n
He said traders must maintain cleanliness at the world class market. The President also handed over Trader Lease Agreements and preloaded rental cards to vulnerable groups, including youth, people with disabilities, veterans and vendors, covering their first month’s rent.<\/div>\n
Speaking at the event, Minister of Local Government and Public Works Hon D Garwe said the new market was best in the region.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is the best of its kind in the region, just as we have the best Parliament in SADC,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
The new market will accommodate slightly under 2000 traders and boost of various other amenities such as ablution facilities, banks and a police post<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
