Information about Civil Protection
The Civil Protection Department in Zimbabwe is a national entity housed under the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.
Its main purpose is to coordinate the activities of various stakeholders involved in disaster management. This includes government ministries, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations.
The legal framework for the department’s operations is primarily the Civil Protection Act [Chapter 10:06]. This act outlines the organizational structure for civil protection from the local authority to the national level and provides for the establishment of the National Civil Protection Committee.
